Ibrahim Shekarau is a former Nigeria's minister of education and two term Governor of Kano State in Nigeria.

Shekarau was born in the Kurmawa quarters of Kano. He was educated at Gidan Makama Primary School, then at Kano Commercial College and finally at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria where he received a Degree in Mathematics/Education. He has vast experience in Education Administration from Classroom Teacher up to the Minister of Education.
